After some time I have finally relaunched my website. Much has changed.
Following our house fire in August I found myself at a new beginning. We have now begun the demolition and rebuilding process to make a new home for our expanding family. I have also continued forward in my studio practice which has become more digital than I ever anticipated.
Over the past two years my work has been undergoing a dramatic shift. During my graduate studies at the University of Waterloo I have been exploring digital video and photography primarily. My newest work is the content which makes up this site now and is indicative if the way I have chosen build my practice. Many things have contributed to what I am now working with. Important to all of this new work is understanding that the subject matter is rooted in authentic experience and is being explored in relation to “presentness” and “perception”.
I am now in the process of completing a series of video haikus which will be installed at Render Gallery in Waterloo this coming April for my thesis defense. Some of this work is viewable currently in the video section of this site. Over the next short while I will be updating about this process and speaking about the new works which emerge in this blog. The blog will also serve as a way for me to make announcements about upcoming shows and to reflect upon various elements of my day to day which contribute to my renewed practice.
Thanks for visiting and come back again.
Colin.
