Locate/Dislocate - MFA Thesis Exhibition

Please join me for the opening reception of my MFA Thesis exhibition at Render Gallery Friday April 17th, 2009 from 7 - 9pm. Find the Gallery entrance just off Philip Street in East Campus Hall. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building for 3 dollars.

The show features 17 haiku video works. Lasting no longer than 30 seconds, each video explores the 5 7 5 structure of the haiku poem in terms of the visual. Related to the thesis itself, these works are tied to Jack Chambers’ notion of “perceptualism” and Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological description of “primary perception”. Firstly these works are designed to be purely experiential and rooted in presentness. They explore an intimacy with each circumstance. They range from the domestic to the natural, from the urban to the rural. They perform secondly as evocations of personal and collected memory in the wake of each short video.

Come experience the work firsthand. Pass the word on to anyone who may be interested.

Sincerely,

Colin.
